Around the globe, efforts to increase teachers’ environmental science content and pedagogical content knowledge abound. In this qualitative study, we examine photojournal entries created by six undergraduate preservice elementary teachers’ as part of their coursework in an environmental science course. Fawcett et al.’s (2002) criteria for teaching and learning in environmentally sustainable ways in university contexts were used as an analytical framework. Each criterion in the framework was identified in multiple journal entries, suggesting that students in this course were able to engage deeply in environmental science content and pedagogy. We plan to present examples of the photos and text from the photojournal entries, discuss implications of the trends that emerged in our data, and next steps in our work.
