Abstract

This study is part of a Researcher-Practitioner Partnership between Agency and Southwestern School District (SWSD). As part of ongoing collaboration, the outcomes for one cohort of secondary immigrant newcomers were tracked based upon extant administrative data. This analysis of the longitudinal outcomes (such as high school graduation) and trajectories (such as progress toward English language proficiency) is part of a broader effort to discover indicators for targeted interventions. In this paper, we report how the population in this district differs from what is generally known about secondary immigrant newcomers, and hypothesize that these differences may be due to the specialized programs and support made available by the district.
