Meta-Analytical Path Analysis on the Relationship Between the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory–2 and Sport Performance: Comparison of Two Approaches

Fri, April 17, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

Craft, Magyar, Becker and Feltz (2003) conducted a meta-analysis to study the relationship between three components of anxiety and athletic performance. The current paper is built on this previous research to conduct the meta-analytical path analyses by using two multivariate approaches: specifically, the GLS approach proposed by Becker (1992), Becker and Schram (1994), and the TSSEM approach proposed by Cheung and Chan (2005). The original research conducted moderator analyses to explore the relationship between anxiety and performance. The current paper will present the moderator analyses by using the technique of multiple-sample path analysis. Results of the comparison analyses will be presented and analyzed.
