This critical qualitative research project examined how race and cultural relations operate in an American Indian border town in northern New Mexico and its impact on curriculum in racially and culturally diverse high schools that serve this region. The data collected for this study originates from primary sources and interviews with participants from multiple generations of the Pueblo Nation. Analysis of the data was guided by both Tribal Critical Theory. In addition, a relational analysis of data collected on the social, economic, and political conditions provide a solid foundation for examining the nonsynchronous operation of power in the region that includes the town and the Pueblo Nation.
