Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of art education on creativity among Chinese college students. A quasi-experimental design is employed and college students from the department of science and engineering are sampled. Students who received art education before college are considered as treatment group A, those who started to receive art education during college are treatment B, and those who do not receive any art education are constructed as the control group. Both Wallach-Kogan Creativity Tests and Consensual Assessment Technique are used to measure creativity. The results show that art education can improve creativity, but only for those who started art education since childhood.
