Teachers' Data-Driven Decision-Making Skills and Student Achievement Growth

Abstract

Data-based decision making has become very popular in the USA and Europa, and much is expected of it in terms of a performance improvement approach. The evidence for the expected positive DDDM effects is however limited. In this study 77 teachers from twenty-six schools that vary in terms of their DDDM ability were studied with respect to four core DDDM skills just as the achievement growth of the students they taught. The question is answered to what extent more developed DDDM skills predict more student achievement growth. All data have been collected and will be analysed in the coming months.
