Sun, April 19, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

The NYC Leadership Academy provides coaching to principals throughout New York City. This paper describes an effort to evaluate the impact of this coaching through the development and use of an online survey aimed to capture principals’ and coaches’ perceptions of the principals’ leadership behaviors. This paper describes the steps taken to develop and administer the instrument, and an analysis of the first year’s pre/post results. This study serves as an example of the development of a program evaluation tool that can provide information to meet individual practitioner needs as well as the evaluation needs of the program. Lessons learned from this work can be useful to others engaging in the growing area of principal coaching support. (5c)
