Each presenter will introduce their biographical research course format and will discuss goals, objectives, readings, and assignments. In addition, each presenter will describe those methodological issues and archival techniques that are covered in the coursework. Syllabi and bibliographies will be distributed.

Scholarly significance: Biographical research is an important topic that calls for planned course instruction. Little attempt has been made to ascertain how this topic has been taught. This symposium session provides a venue and open forum of the examination and exchange of ideas.
