Abstract

Our research focused on the use of an innovative technology-based approach to improve the skill-base of pre-service teachers. The aim of this learning and teaching development project was to investigate how teachers’ mindsets (Dweck 2000; 2007) alter in relation to their formation (and reformation) of new skills. We used Real-Time Coaching to strategically foster practice and reflection in key areas which have been cited as common problems for new teachers (i.e. classroom management, presentation of material, clarity of instructions, etc). This research, which utilizes an action research model, was specifically concerned with how teachers develop and improve their craft.
