Fri, April 17, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

Previous research has demonstrated that early intensive Discrete Trial Training (DTT) can lead to significant developmental gains across domains for children with autism and developmental delay. However, few studies have evaluated the effectiveness of DTT on children with developmental disabilities other than autism. In addition, despite the increased use of instructional technology, emerging research is investigating methods of teaching and types of technology such as hand-held technology as an instructional device. The purpose of this action research study is to determine the effects of DTT on student mastery of letter recognition using technology. The major findings from this study include the immediate improvement of letter recognition for students with developmental delays, including autism, for letter recognition.
