The purpose of the current study was to address a major unresolved issue in creativity research-whether creativity is domain specific or domain general. Three hundred and fifty nine undergraduate and graduate students completed measures which assessed their creative achievements in six distinct domains. Results based on an explanatory multilevel item response theory model provided stronger support for domain generality than for domain specificity. The corresponding implications are discussed in detail.
