A Case Study of Peer Feedback in Face-to-Face (F2F) Versus Distance Learning Classes Among Preservice Teachers

Sun, April 19, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Marriott, Floor: Fourth Level, Belmont

Abstract

We examined the nature of peer feedback among pre-service teachers in two undergraduate classes, one distance learning (DL) and the other using a traditional face-to-face (F2F) instructional model. We asked if the nature of peer feedback is different for F2F and DL class formats. The researchers examined students’ work samples to examine feedback function ratings. Participants completed a questionnaire regarding the nature of feedback expectations. For nature of expectations and feedback function ratings, results for both Chi Square analyses were no significant between the two modes of instruction and the peer feedback categories. However, provision of feedback was significantly favored in the F2F class over the DL class. Implications for course delivery curriculum are discussed as well as future research.
