Although aspiring high school graduates are formally well qualified, not all of them may have the aptitude to become a successful teacher. As person-study major-fit has been shown to be associated with occupational success and satisfaction (cf. Nye, Su, Rounds, & Drasgow, 2012), it’s important to assist students in making the right choice with respect to their study major. Accordingly universities in Germany apply different online self-assessments. The present experimental study aims to investigate whether teacher-specific self-assessments have an effect on students’ choice for or against teacher education programs. We focus on the questions whether working on a teacher-specific online self-assessment increases career decidedness and career decision making self-efficacy and if it leads to confirmation or revision of career choice.
