Exploring the Academic Aspirations of Doctoral Women of Color

Abstract

This multiple case study examines the relationship between sexism, racism, and the formation of academic aspirations of African American, Latina/Hispanic, Pacific Islander American, Asian American, and/or Native American women of color. By retrospectively exploring the experiences of women of color doctoral students, the study’s goal is to assess the impact and influence of these two constructs on the formation of their academic goals. Multiracial Feminism will serve as the framework to guide this study.
