This paper reports findings from an initial pilot of a curricular innovation developed and tested within an undergraduate elementary teacher education program. The Adaptive Cycles of Teaching (ACT) curriculum is supported by an innovative mobile technology platform and approximates a corridor of adaptability to facilitate novice teachers’ adaptive expertise. Initial findings suggest that the ACT model provides a stronger practice-based learning environment than traditional methods courses and has potential to connect teacher education and P-12 learning environments. Findings are discussed in terms of the next phase of the design research and implications for teacher education faculty roles.
