Good science reading comprehension requires integrative reasoning ability, more specifically, an ability to parse and integrate information across text and diagram. Text-diagram integration is a complex problem-solving task that involves information alignment reasoning such as finding similarities and relations. In Study 1, we examined ways to promote students’ science reading via learning strategies such as annotation and alignment. In Study 2 we will explore the underlying mechanism using think aloud.
