Justice for All: Engaging Youth in Action Civics

Abstract

The purpose of this proposal is to describe the outcomes of a free Summer Civics Institute designed to engage middle school students from traditionally marginalized populations in civic action. This proposal briefly describes the Summer Civics Institute and then using an action civics (CIRCLE, 2013; Levinson, 2012) framework, highlights participants’ growing civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions.
