Understanding Online Teachers' Work With Students With Disabilities, Narratively

Mon, April 20, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Gold Level, Grand CD

Abstract

This work emerged from an interest in the experiences of teachers in online settings as they worked alongside students with disabilities and their parents to complete coursework in a supplemental online program. Four teachers shared their personal practical knowledge of teaching (Clandinin & Connelly, 1990) told and examined in the three-dimensional narrative space (Clandinin & Connelly, 2000). These stories also reflected the teachers’ positons on a professional knowledge landscape (Clandinin & Connelly, 1996) that is virtual in nature, but no less real in its consequences for students.
