The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that play a role in successful urban teacher residency recruitment. This study has three aims: to investigate if a teacher residents have a personal connection to the location of the program; to examine the practicality of the Haberman STAR assessment in predicting future success as a candidate for the program; and, to determine which factors during the candidate selection process are best aligned with the recruitment of successful candidates in urban teacher residencies. As a result, the goal is to ensure that teacher residents are able to meet the criteria of effective teachers before entering the classroom. The efforts to recruit these teachers are paramount to achieve this objective.
