Predictors of Self-Efficacy of Teaching Artists

Sun, April 19, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to identify factors related to teacher efficacy in a national sample of teaching artists. Teaching artists are those artists who actively engage in providing instruction for students. A teacher's sense of teaching efficacy has been established to be important for promoting student outcomes and teacher satisfaction. There is a gap in the literature regarding variables that account for differences in teacher efficacy for teaching artists. This presentation summarizes the relationship between a range of theoretically and empirically based predictors and teacher efficacy scores from a national sample of 373 respondents who had worked as a teaching artist within the year prior to the survey.
