Abstract

This research focused on American Indian and Alaska Native students' experience at colleges and universities with various percentages of AI/AN students. We examined the relationships between American Indian and Alaska Native students’ experiences and their college successes. Large numbers of Asian, African-American, Hispanic, and Native American students enrolling at community colleges provides opportunities for increasing college achievement goals for underrepresented minority students. This research, focused on the first two years of college at two- and four-year institutions using a large national data set, adds to the growing scholarship on pathways, by focusing specifically on Native American students.
