Fri, April 17, 8:15 to 9:45am, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

This paper reports the results of a case study on the implementation of a student-generated questioning activity using a customized personal response system (PRS) by two groups of students of second language (L2) courses. With the analysis of class observation, semi-structured interviews with the instructor, student survey, and pre/post-test, this study aims to understand instructor and student experiences with and perspectives on the student-generate questioning activity with the use of the PRS. Analysis of the data showed that there is a significant difference in student performance between the pre- and post-test. Additional findings indicate that the interactional issues involved ways of conversations with peers when working questioning and answering are related to the instructional content.
