This study analyzed the implementation of three urban school district-university partnerships focused on school leadership development in association with best practices. A qualitative case study design was used to develop profiles for each partnership. Best practice areas analyzed included quality of curriculum and instruction; integral involvement of the school district in the development and delivery of curriculum and instruction; provision of an excellent internship program with committed mentors; and demonstrated commitment to program participants. Results of the study indicate that three of the four best practices were observed in the three partnerships, however; the integral involvement of school district personnel in the development of the partnership curriculum was not commonly observed.
