From Innovators to Adopters: Examining the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate Dissertations in Practice

Abstract

An ongoing debate surrounds the purpose and nature of the educational doctorate Dissertation in Practice (DiP). The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) is an organization dedicated to ensuring high quality EdD programs. This action research study examines characteristics of DiP’s coming from CPED institutions and alignment of DiPs with CPED working principles. Data for this ongoing study are presented from three years of institutionally defined exemplar DiPs submitted for national CPED award.
