This project investigates relationships between the religious and civic dispositions of social studies teachers in Missouri. More than 400 Missouri social studies teachers responded to an initial survey of civic education preferences related to nationalism and civic self-efficacy, and 10 teachers, who self-identified as being highly religious, participated in semi-structured interviews. Findings demonstrate associations between religiosity, civic identity, and preferences for nationalistic civic instruction.
