The Academic Language Development for All (ALD4ALL) initiative is a three-year long multi-stakeholder collaborative inquiry project that addresses the academic and language learning needs of English Learners (ELs) and culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students. This work takes a multi-pronged approach by: 1) identifying schools with bilingual multicultural education programs effectively serving ELs and CLD students; 2) documenting and describing effective practices within selected schools/programs serving ELs and CLD students; and 3) using the effective practices to inform and develop job-embedded/on-site professional learning for teachers and administrators. Findings from the school-level inquiry of effective practices of participating schools/programs and how these findings informed the development of the educator training in collaboration with each school’s teachers and leaders are discussed.
