Abstract

This presentation describes an ethnographic study in which we employed 2D digital animation as a participatory methodology to explore the lived curricula of asylum seeking families as they resettle in the rural southern United States. We examine how school and community interact with the resettlement experience, and prompt critical dialogue around crossing borders in the current education policy context. Furthermore, we hope to generate a critical discussion about digital animation as a metaphor for data representation in qualitative inquiry and implications for its use as a participatory research methodology.
