Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the methodological and pedagogical implications of engaging in biographical/narrative inquiry projects focused on social justice education leaders using secondary qualitative data analysis (SQDA) with archived data. Recently, researchers are in the process of debating the methodological possibilities and limitations of SQDA. Combined with the growing methodological writings theorizing the biographical turn the auto/ethnographic turn and narrative inquiry advancements in qualitative inquiry, a range of new creative insights into methodological enhancements and pedagogical possibilities for preparing novice researchers are developing. In this paper we employ several data analysis strategies (proximal analysis and distal analysis) to examine secondary data from open-sourced archived collections and trace how we arrived at new interpretations of the data.
