Workplace mistreatment research has recently proliferated in the United States, but the topic of teacher mistreatment by school administrators is slow to follow. With the increased stress placed on teachers due to high-stakes reform policies, mandated teacher evaluation revisions, and a pressing concern to curb student bullying, the relationship between teacher and principal becomes an important consideration for academic research. This cross-sectional study seeks to contribute to the emerging body of research by use of a mixed method survey to quantify and describe the occurrence of teacher mistreatment by principals in a sample of Ohio teachers. Quantitative results show that although mistreatment occurs infrequently, it has been experienced by most teachers. Further research is warranted.
