As technology becomes an increasingly ubiquitous presence in our lives, technology anxiety is a growing phenomenon of great concern for educators and education researchers. We aim to create the Abbreviated Technology Anxiety Scale (ATAS) that measures this construct in the population of college students and can be used by educational researchers and educators alike. Our process of scale construction is presented, including creating the items, checking content validity of the scale, piloting the items, item and scale analysis, final scale revision, and external validity analysis. Preliminary results are presented and the full scale will be ready for presentation at the annual meeting. Implications for research will be discussed in the full presentation.
