The Impact of Higher Education Expansion on University Wage Premiums in Taiwan

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the existence of educational wage premium for higher education in Taiwan, and analyze the difference of educational wage premium between genders and between educational attainments. The dataset of MUQLS was used to construct a quasi-panel data over the 2001-2009 periods; linear regression analysis was used for analytical purposes. The empirical results found that educational wage premium exist for higher education in Taiwan, and there were gender gaps in wage premium. However, the gender gaps are narrowing in recent year.
