The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of the implementation of multicultural multigenre writing on pre-service teachers’ writing interests and writing perceptions. Fifteen education graduate students participated in this study. The data sources of this paper included pre-post students’ writing interest surveys, students’ writing portfolios, students’ reflections, students’ small-group discussion notes, students’ final multicultural multigenre papers, and focus group interviews. Analysis of the data indicated that multicultural multigenre writing has the potential to increase student writers’ interest, motivation, creativity, and engagement. Furthermore, it can foster students’ willingness and ability to write from multiple perspectives and multiple genres/modes.
