Abstract

In this presentation, I attempt to articulate my engagements and those of my Multicultural Education course students—who were undergraduate pre-service teachers at a Midwest state university in the U.S.—in the development of arts-mediated student presentations. I specifically explore the significance of facilitating my students’ learning through aesthetic expression by creating a process-centered curriculum and of engaging myself in seeking a rhythmic dialogue with my students, their works, and myself. In doing so, I try to give expression to how such presentations came to communicate the meaning of multi-cultural living mediated by my students’ and my “aesthetic expression,” which became a “moving force” of forming and sustaining a creative learning community in my classroom throughout the semester.
