Peer Network Scheme: A Three-Stage Program Enhancing Collegians' Sense of Community in School

Sat, April 18, 2:45 to 4:15pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

Studies have indicated that a sense of community in school is positively related to students’ well-being and performance. The Peer Network Scheme (PNS) was built on the four-element model (McMillan & Chavis, 1986) and incorporated elements of networking and mentoring to enhance college students’ sense of community toward school. The present study evaluated its effectiveness during the first year of college and provided insights for programs or schools when launching similar programs.
