Abstract

This paper attempts to delineate a thread of the theory and research responsible for the three major leaps in the evolving concept of validity in psychological and educational measurement. It concludes that the constant changes of validity conceptions seemed to be mainly triggered by the acute problems that measurement workers had encountered in the practice of validation.
