With the proliferation of online education, there is a noticeable absence of a teaching and learning framework to guide instructors of diversity courses with facilitating the process of transforming preservice and inservice teachers into multicultural educators. This qualitative study resulted in the development of such a theoretical framework, and typology. The Dimensions of Multicultural Educator Transformation - learning climate, fostering transformation, and learner’s journey of change – are critical in helping learners move beyond a tacit understanding of diversity. The Typology of Students’ Learning Journeys identifies three types of students: resisters, accepters, and multicultural educators. Taken together, these models can be generative tools to help online instructors cultivate multicultural educators.
