Secondary Educators' Perceptions of Teacher–Parent Communication and the Relationship to Student Achievement

Thu, April 16, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

In this original research, the intersection of leadership and parent communication is examined through the analysis of how principals' beliefs and actions are related to teachers' communication with parents, the focus and frequency of school initiated communication and the relationship between these factors and student academic achievement. By surveying educators about their work and using hierarchical linear modeling for the data analysis, this research is designed to identify and recommend approaches to teacher-parent communication that can be used by secondary educators to support student academic achievement.
