Commemorative Practices in Argentina: Exploring Our Response(abilities) as Readers, Researchers, and Citizens

Mon, April 20, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Gold Level, Grand CD

Abstract

In this study the authors engage with a set of artifacts university students in Buenos Aires, Argentina designed and disseminated within and outside of university walls. The artifacts were intended to commemorate the victims of the "Dirty War" in Argentina. Methodologically and analytically, this study is divided into two parts. With Part 1, the primary goal is description and reflection, to provide a window into the authors’ own responses to a representative sample of artifacts the Argentinian students created. This includes an interactive performance where the authors present a poem and song they composed to represent their response(abilities) as educators and educational researchers. Part 2 demonstrates how the authors’ responses to the artifacts can be conceptualized.
