This paper presents the journey one university took to create systems resulting in 1) quality selection of candidates ensuring just treatment to be assessed and admitted into a rigorous leadership preparation program for their unique gifts and potential contributions to the field; 2) a differentiated approach to leadership preparation mirroring best practice of P-12 education within higher-education; 3) a reflective process modeling effective instruction for the needs and learning styles of adult learners; and, 4) a process for creating a value-added approach of assessing candidates skills and dispositions to lead in and advocate for high-quality schools for all P-12 students. These systems’ components are offered as a model for continuous improvement of leadership preparation programs and candidate outcomes for replication.
