Given the growing emphasis on internationalization and the requisite intercultural skills and dispositions necessary in a global society, this study extends the extant research on diversity education by exploring the linkages between campus-based diversity experiences (both curricular and co-curricular) and a developmentally-based measure of global perspective-taking. Based on a national sample of undergraduate students attending a range of public and private institutions, the results show significant associations between diversity engagement and the cognitive, intrapersonal, and interpersonal dimensions of global perspective-taking. Implications are discussed in relation to using diversity education as a vehicle for preparing students for the challenges of an increasingly global society and assessing the effectiveness of different strategic initiatives.
