Sun, April 19, 8:15 to 9:45am, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

This study examined a Central Office approach to facilitating school improvement through partnering with school leaders to refine their instructional leadership practices in the 2013-2014 school year. The study used survey data and interviews with the ten participating principals to understand how principals described the impact of their participation in this initiative on their practice as instructional leaders and the specific Central Office supports that facilitated change in principals’ practice as instructional leaders. Principals agreed that their participation in this Central Office initiative impacted their practice as instructional leaders. They identified the provision of a Central Office coach who partnered with them in the work of improvement and the formation of a principal network as the two most impactful supports.
