Implementing Open Educational Digital Resources in the Classroom as a Replacement for Traditional Text

Fri, April 17, 8:15 to 9:45am, Sheraton, Floor: Lobby Level, Columbus AB

Abstract

Nine high school teachers in history, theology, health, and mathematics discussed experiences with transitioning from print-based text resources to open educational resources in face-to-face classrooms. Responses were coded into categories of benefits (easy access to timely engaging materials), challenges (copyright issues and preparation time), technology (diversity of resources available), and course construction and collaboration (choosing new curriculum directions and resistance to course alignment). Implications for further study are outlined.
