A preponderance of evidence demonstrates that first-generation undergraduate students face serious obstacles in their academic pursuits. However, relatively few studies focus on first-generation (FG) students pursuing graduate degrees and research on FG students at law schools is virtually nonexistent. This paper seeks to fill in this literature gap by exploring the challenges that FG students encounter during law school. Findings illustrate that many of the barriers FG students face during their undergraduate programs continue even after they complete a baccalaureate degree.
