Preliminary Outcomes for Career and Technical Education Students in Philadelphia

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine preliminary outcomes for an early cohort of Career and Technical Education (CTE) students in the School District of Philadelphia (SDP). The paper will compare CTE students to non-CTE students in the cohort on a number of ‘on-track to graduation’ indicators, while controlling for previous academic achievement. The paper will also explore the demographic makeup of the CTE cohort compared to the non-CTE students as well as examine the potential for CTE programs to provide quality school options within the Philadelphia public school system.
