Latina/o Student Success in Mathematics: Examining the Effects of Gender and Academic Engagement on Math Performance

Abstract

Gender differences are evident in levels of engagement in STEM courses; most differences emerge at middle school then expand throughout high school. Using data from the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS:09), this study will investigate the effects of gender and levels of academic engagement on Latina/o’s math performance.
