Abstract

This Roundtable will discuss Wilson’s (2008) Indigenous Research Paradigm, particularly the concept of relationality and the author’s thoughts about goodness in higher education research. Native American higher education personnel were interviewed regarding their work with Native students. Analysis of that data prompted the author’s reflexivity and inquiry into Wilson’s paradigm. Through this lens Indigenous knowledge systems and Native cultural capital based on relationality were exposed. The assumption of goodness, that we are all inherently good, also influenced their work with students. Goodness, from the perspective of an Indigenous researcher and as part of being a reflective qualitative researcher is also discussed. The author advocates the uses and importance of the Indigenous Research Paradigm
