Abstract

The objective of this study is to demonstrate and evaluate the implementation and impact of a Global Capacities Framework in three socio-economically diverse US school districts. The Global Capacities Framework was created to: 1) identify the key global capacities students, teachers, and school leaders need to reach their full potential for success in the 21st century, and 2) to help promote related necessary changes in leadership, professional development, instruction, and student outcomes. The Global Capacities Framework was created based on documented leadership approaches, professional development strategies, instructional and assessment practices, and school climates in over 200 classrooms in 40 schools involving over 6,000 students in six cities: New York, Toronto, Helsinki, Shanghai, Singapore, and Perth (Authors, 2011).
