Abstract

There are a limited number of instruments being used to measure the key disposition concepts specific to sustainability education. Of those, virtually none have good estimates of validity. The 19 items being presented was developed from themes that emerged from interviews with participants who attended the 2013 NAEE Sustainability workshop. Using structural equation modeling, which is a subset of the General Linear Model, a confirmatory factor analysis was conducted. This paper will review the estimates of reliability, construct validity, and overall predictive validity estimates of change that is associated with the professional development. The discussion of this disposition instrument can be used formatively to enhance instructional practices to facilitate the development of positive dispositions toward sustainability.
