The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the impact of the ORIGO Stepping Stones Mathematics program being implemented at 11 elementary schools in a mid-Western school district. The program was adopted by the district due to its alignment with Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and judged potential for improving instructional practices. In this mixed-methods evaluation design, findings from teacher and principal survey and interview data indicated positive experiences with program strategies and impacts, and perceptions of its benefits for students. Systematic classroom observations revealed that pedagogy was shifting from whole-class instruction to personalized learning. Achievement data from the CCSS-aligned NWEA assessments will be analyzed in September 2014, comparing the intervention and virtual comparison students on achievement trajectories.
