The Leadership Development Program (LDP) at [INSERT university name] strives to graduate community-college-degreed transfer students within two and one half-years (i.e., four and one half-years after beginning at the community-college level) in an engineering leadership program. The LDP provides students with the opportunity to learn from manufacturing executives, tour world-class manufacturing companies, and participate in workshops designed to develop their leadership skills, social etiquette, and business decorum. Additionally, the program serves to improve the recruitment, retention, graduation rates, and job placement of students, thereby increasing the number and quality of students who are prepared to become part of a technologically-challenging workforce. This paper will describe the program and present qualitative results related to leadership and career development.
